Volkswagen Group Africa Showcases the Future of Mobility at NAMPO 2026

Volkswagen Bronkhorstspruit, part of the Digi Cars Group, is proud to highlight Volkswagen Group Africa’s compelling, future focused showcase at the 2026 NAMPO Harvest Day, where the Group presented a diverse portfolio of passenger and commercial vehicles, several of which were seen by South African members of the public for the very first time.

Hosted annually in Bothaville in the Free State, NAMPO is widely regarded as the largest agricultural exhibition in the Southern Hemisphere, bringing together farmers, agribusiness leaders, fleet operators and decision makers from across the agricultural, commercial and industrial sectors. The Group’s presence at the event, which ran from 12 to 15 May 2026, underscored a deep-rooted commitment to supporting the industries that form the backbone of the South African economy.

Leading the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles showcase was the Amarok 222kW PanAmericana, an unapologetically bold bakkie engineered for resilience, power and premium comfort. Whether for the farm, the worksite or the open road, the Amarok continues to set the benchmark for what a modern bakkie should deliver.

Complementing the Amarok at NAMPO were several other commercial workhorses, including:

• Crafter, a proven segment leader in the medium commercial vehicle segment
• Transporter, a dependable and scalable mobility solution for businesses
• Vivo Xpress, built for demanding operating environments

Together, these vehicles speak directly to the durability, reliability and efficiency that fleet operators and business owners depend on every day.

One of the standout debuts at NAMPO was the new Caravelle plug-in hybrid, which gave visitors an early look at the next chapter of Volkswagen’s electrification journey. The Caravelle PHEV brings the practicality and refinement the nameplate is known for, paired with the efficiency of an electrified drivetrain. It is a clear signal of where premium commercial and people-moving mobility is headed.

On the passenger car side, two iconic Volkswagen nameplates took centre stage:

• The Golf GTI, a perennial performance favourite that needs no introduction to South African enthusiasts
• The Touareg Final Edition, a fitting tribute to one of Volkswagen’s most sophisticated and capable SUVs

Both vehicles represent the breadth of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars range, from hot hatch heritage to flagship luxury SUV refinement.

Beyond the Volkswagen brand, the NAMPO stand also featured the all-new Audi Q3, representing the Audi brand’s progressive luxury and technology offering within the compact SUV segment, alongside a selection of Ducati motorbikes bringing high performance engineering and Italian design flair into the broader Volkswagen Group Africa portfolio experience.
